Depiction:
Painted with a reductive technique using minimal pigment and thousands of small brushstrokes, <Superbloom 3> evokes the California landscape as both memory and mirror. Based on photographs I took across the state, the poppies emerge in soft, shimmering fields, echoing the aesthetic rhythms of Pointillism and Impressionism. As I worked, I reflected on those who came before me during the Gold Rush era, how their lives, like the wind, moved invisibly through the land, shaping its surface and its stories. The piece is a meditation on memory, the cycles of life, and the power of wind to paint a place without ever being seen.
