Wind is movement. It carries seeds, shapes landscapes, and transforms the environment, though we cannot see it directly. We only know wind exists through what it touches—the way it bends grass, stirs water, or lifts delicate poppy petals. In Alan's family history, migration has been like the wind, an invisible yet powerful force shaping their journey. The wind brought his ancestors across the Pacific into an uncertain future, propelled by unseen forces of colonialism, war, and economic hardship. Even in stillness, the wind persists, just as history lingers in bones and memories. The wind provides rain, nourishes the earth, and allows new growth to take root. Alan's work represents both the unseen struggles of the past and the continuous movement toward renewal. The same wind that scatters poppy seeds breathes life into the next generation.
