Reflection of an Evergreen (2017) is composed almost entirely of mirrored images on water. Trees, branches, and light are stretched and distorted into rhythmic ripples, their forms both stable and fleeting. The artist alternates between dense and fluid brushstrokes to capture the transformations of the water’s surface, allowing permanence and transience to coexist. By focusing on the reflection rather than the object itself, the work challenges conventional ways of seeing and underscores the painterly tension between representation and abstraction.
