“The Night is Fading” originates from a hiking journey in Taiwan’s high mountains. Setting out before dawn, the ascent unfolded in a magical moment when night and day intertwined—the sun beginning to rise while the moon still lingered in the sky. With every step forward, the darkness gave way to light, echoing a simple yet profound truth of life: as long as we keep moving steadily ahead, hope will eventually emerge.
This work reconstructs that profound experience by reimagining the inner world through an imagined expanse of mountains. The “white bird” motif, derived from inverting the Chinese character for “person” (人) and fusing it with the form of a bird, symbolizes us—small and fragile in the vastness of the world, yet resilient and fearless as we fly forward. A faint moon hangs in the sky as the land awakens under a haze of shifting colors, suggesting that all that is dark will eventually fade away.
