Rooted in Chiu Kuo-Fong’s long-standing exploration of the relationship between natural phenomena and cultural symbolism, this work draws upon the profound inclusiveness found within landscapes. In Eastern culture, dragons and phoenixes are mythical creatures symbolizing auspiciousness and the transformation of energy. By integrating these auspicious signs—such as the dragon emerging from river waters and the phoenix entering forested mountains—into the landscape, Chiu seeks to create a visual realm where heaven and earth converge, and vitality flows continuously.

This is not merely a visual expression, but also a return to the spirit. For Chiu, artistic creation is a way to seek inner balance and engage in a dialogue with nature and the cosmos. While landscapes carry the flow of emotions, the appearance of these mythical creatures signifies a transformation of the spirit and the arrival of blessings.

Chiu Kuo-Fong hopes that viewers, when encountering his work, will sense a silent movement and harmony—a long-lost sense of peace and hope. These works are not simply depictions of scenery, but dialogues and resonances with nature, tradition, and the contemporary world.
