Huang Pin Tong (b. 1987, Taipei) holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the National Taiwan University of Arts. Working primarily with wood, she anthropomorphizes natural phenomena and elements in her sculptural practice. Through her distinctive incorporation of newborn infant imagery, she evokes profound emotional resonance and collective memory among viewers, guiding both the essence of life and soul back to a state of pristine innocence. Her works foster deeper connections between individuals. Huang’s talent has been recognized through prestigious awards, including the 21st Chi-Mei Arts Award (2009) and the consecutive Golden Prize of the Yulon Woodcarving Innovation Award (2010,2011) —Taiwan’s highest honor in contemporary art woodcarving. Her breakthrough solo exhibition “Meet” at Yu-Hsiu Museum of Art (2017), was widely acclaimed. She has also participated in notable group exhibitions at the Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum (2013,2017,2019), Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts (2019), and Juming Museum (2023). Her works are in the permanent collections of the Chi-Mei Museum, Yu-Hsiu Museum of Art, as well as enterprises and foundations.
