Mari Stoel’s practice is rooted in landscape painting, merging plein-air traditions with a contemporary painterly language. Working outdoors, he allows sunlight, wind, sweat, and the passage of time to become part of the canvas, transforming each painting into a record of lived experience.
Stoel’s brushwork is direct and vigorous, capturing the fleeting atmosphere of nature while oscillating between figuration and abstraction. His works are not mere depictions of scenery but testimonies of presence—moments of encounter between artist and environment.
