Artistic Statement
In a fiercely competitive society, the dreams we once held dear seem to have vanished.
To avoid becoming "losers," many conform to the predetermined paths set by the systems of success, gradually forgetting their true aspirations and surrendering to a defensive way of living.
Seo Dongjin explores the reality of modern individuals who live behind emotional armor to survive.
His sculptures depict characters wearing protective gear—shells that represent the loss of innocence and forgotten dreams, yet also shelter traces of vulnerability and pure emotion.
His work expresses the internal conflict between the desire to be protected and the need to confront the world. Through solid yet tender forms, he tells a story of quiet resilience, healing, and the human longing for hope.
