Bernar Venet was born in Château Arnoux in 1941. Widely considered the most important French artist of the present day, Venet has been at the forefront of contemporary art since 1961, when, at the age of twenty, he conceived a new groundbreaking artistic vocabulary that fused matter, form and method to articulate entirely new concepts with an indeterminate logic and intuition. His material poetry combines rationality and intuition, articulating an energy of intellectual precision and the visual impact of efficient communication, seamlessly merging matter and concept in a unique fusion of form and time.
