Born and based in Tokyo.
The contemporary artist, Kohei Arano, captures "Oh, this is like a movie" moments that appear in everyday life surrounding him, then he reconstructs such moments based upon the theme of "Japanese painting x street culture".
He mainly uses Japanese painting materials such as a glue(nikawa), Japanese paper, and pigments such as gofun (gofun), allowing him to illustrate the mixed perspective with street culture that he gets inspired by his favorite movies and skate culture, yet protecting the traditional Japanese painting techniques that have been handed down to generation to generation for a very long time.
Moments that have been discovered and spotlighted by him in the hectic city of Tokyo, these works are his message of words and thoughts spun by using the classic Japanese painting technique.
