LWArt, established in August 2023, embodies the philosophy of “Life With Art” and is dedicated to augmenting the art demographic in Japan by promoting greater ownership of artworks. Despite constituting less than 4% of the global art market, Japan ranks prominently in terms of museum attendance, suggesting that art is predominantly appreciated in a passive manner rather than actively supported, which ultimately obstructs the development of emerging artists.
A significant barrier to incorporating art into everyday life is the uncertainty regarding aesthetic preferences among the viewers. Acknowledging that art ownership should reflect individual taste, our exhibitions aim to evoke latent interests by merging diverse genres, themes, colors, and styles. To this end, we curate works by both young and mid-career artists that embody a wide spectrum of artistic expressions, from the playful and ironic to those that engage with social issues and personal turmoil.
Recently, LWArt participated in its first art fair in Taiwan, predominantly presenting two-dimensional works that enabled viewers to closely examine intricate details, colors, and techniques. The gallery is now broadening its scope to include three-dimensional artworks, thereby creating expanded opportunities for engagement between artists and collectors. Our curated exhibitions invite audiences to connect with the underlying intentions of the artists and the narratives encapsulated within each piece.
Whether one is an art beginner, a prospective collector, or an established one, we aspire for our exhibitions to facilitate an appreciation and discovery of personal aesthetic preferences. Ultimately, this enriches the understanding of Japanese culture, fostering new discoveries and interpretations through the transformative medium of art.
