Since its opening in March 2012, Gallery Dasun has been dedicated to contributing to the development of the art and cultural landscape in Gwacheon through a diverse range of exhibitions and projects.
Focusing on Korean painting and hanji (traditional handmade mulberry paper) artworks, the gallery curates exhibitions that reinterpret the essence of Korean traditions in a contemporary context. Drawing inspiration from the historical legacy of Chusa Kim Jeong-hee, a master artist of the late Joseon period, Gallery Dasun introduces a wide spectrum of artists — from established mid-career figures to emerging talents specializing in traditional Korean painting — highlighting both tradition and modernity.
Beyond domestic activities, Gallery Dasun actively supports the international expansion of its artists by participating in global art fairs and co-organizing exhibitions with overseas galleries and museums. Through these initiatives, the gallery strives to promote the richness and diversity of contemporary Korean art on the world stage.
Community engagement is also a key focus. The gallery operates art therapy programs in collaboration with the Anyang Prosecutors' Office and offers docent-led tours to provide visitors with deeper, more meaningful experiences with art.
Gallery Dasun aspires to serve as a cultural platform where Korean heritage is reinterpreted for contemporary audiences, and where the potential of contemporary art continues to evolve.
