Inae’s works is developed through the repetitive endeavor of accumulating paint, which she refers to as ‘Layering.’ By layering the emotions from each brushstroke with memories that have faded and left only traces behind, she captures the passage of time on the canvas. The varying height of the paint, shaped by the overlapping layers, reflects different light depending on the angle, symbolizing the artist’s belief that, like memories, artworks change based on the conditions of the present moment. Time is the central theme of her work. The ‘Memory’ series revisits and reinterprets past moments through golden circles, the ‘Gaze’ series explores the artist’s present in relation to the different gazes of society, and the ‘Worship’ series reflects an attitude toward life in the face of future adversity.
The color gold, which appears consistently throughout her works, embodies the complexity of human nature—both its greed and its pursuit of material wealth. The artist continues to explore this duality, using it as a means of self-reflection and projecting her own experiences into her art. These finished works, layered with time, are not merely visual objects but also carry the artist’s inner turmoil and life story, prompting the viewer to contemplate deeply.
