Depiction:
In Japan, daruma are firmly rooted as auspicious objects, traditionally symbolizing the “resilience” to rise again even after being knocked down.
In my work, however, the daruma quietly gazes upward with a faint, ambiguous expression. A loading icon rests upon its forehead, as if something is still being processed.
This represents an affirmation of being in an unfinished state within a world that constantly demands completion. It carries a wish not for perfect form, but for hope found in remaining unsettled—in existing here and now, within the gentle state of fluctuation.
