The Yayung (river) Ciyakang is the source of prehistoric Nephrite. In the late Neolithic period, humans followed the currents downstream, following the watercourse surrounding Taiwan, to exchange jade on the island. The inspiration for the work “The Watercourse of Yayung Ciyakang” comes from Taiwan 3,000 years ago.   This work incorporates images of human-beast shaped jade jue, jade rings, stone tools, arrowheads, and other symbolic images. The layers symbolize the lively trade of the entire island. The nephrite used in the mosaic is the same as the archaeological jade. Artist CHIANG Kai-Chun uses visual arts to showcase the contemporary innovation of Taiwan's prehistoric culture.
