TUTU often relies on ready-made images for collage and re-creation in his artistic practice. Yet, his purpose is not to appropriate the original meaning of these images, but to reconstruct a universal visual language filled with contradictions through such symbols.
On the surface, these characters and scenes may appear absurd, yet they point to a deeper reflection: as individuals navigate the struggles within multicultural contexts, how do they redefine and assert mastery over their own identities? In that moment of shared understanding and a knowing smile, does every viewer also find themselves balancing between lightness and contemplation?
