Ren Zhe (b. 1983, Beijing) is a leading contemporary sculptor. He received his M.F.A. in Sculpture from the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University.
Steeped from childhood in history, mythology, and the Chinese literary canon, Ren has long centered heroic figures as vehicles for spiritual imagery and inner tension. His practice fuses Chinese aesthetics and Huaxia philosophy with a contemporary sculptural vocabulary, working primarily in stainless steel and bronze to achieve monumental power and refined structure. Ren’s sculptural language is at once weighty and distilled, animated by palpable spiritual force. His work has been widely exhibited and collected by institutions across Asia and internationally, securing his position as a key figure in the landscape of Chinese contemporary sculpture.
