Belgian-Chinese Shanghai-based artist "Yao Yizhi" born in Shanghai in 1952, since childhood he admired the masterpieces of many famous calligraphers and painters in the painting workshop not far from his home and developed his own idea of painting and embarked on an artistic journey. When he was young, he studied painting with Mr. Fan Shengfu (范生福), a serial artist, and laid the foundation for figure painting. Later, during the period of China's Cultural Revolution, although the life of farming in the countryside was hard, it also imprinted the endless beauty of mountains and rivers in China on Yao Yizhi's heart. In 1977, Yao Yizhi was admitted to the Art Department of Shanghai Normal University and began got in touch with Western techniques. Later, he went on to the Belgian National Academy of Fine Arts to study for a master's degree and paint full-time. He also participated in many joint exhibitions and salons in Europe, such as the Belgian Artists Group Exhibition, the French World Art Fair, the Dutch World Art Fair, etc. Art exhibitions were held in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and other places. Collectors are all over the world, such as the Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Belgium, the National Museum of Dubai, the National Museum of China, the Shanghai Art Museum, etc., as well as many private collections. Yao Yizhi's works combine traditional Chinese ink-splashing techniques with Western abstract concepts, and the themes often contain homesickness. Taking mountains, rivers, flowing water and other natural scenery as the theme, he draws his imagination about his hometown on paper and pen to relieve his nostalgia.
