Born in Taiwan in 1971, Fu has been constantly in search for his inner tranquility. After completing his studies in Taiwan, Fu went on to study engraving and printing techniques in L’Ecole des Beaux-arts de Versailles. His time in France enabled him to fuse elements from the graphic tradition into his paintings, which is evident in his use of color and texture. Another pattern stacked in layers has been hidden in the artwork. It’s like a riddle and the answer to the riddle is in buds, branches and trunks of lush forests. Deng Shiru, a famous Chinese calligrapher of the Qing Dynasty, said that “See white as black and a wonderful world appears”. The blank space is as important as the theme of the painting. As a part of layout and configuration of the artwork, the blank space not only enhances a sense of space but also bring out the theme. The subtle and delicate relation between solids and voids shows characteristic and aesthetics of Asian culture. The artwork particularly focuses on the image layout and a sense of rhythm. A plurality of symbols is used to stimulate the audience to imagine and explore in a variety of ways. Some symbols are precisely arranged at the center of the painting while others are hidden in the background. The audience gradually figures out a fantastic story the artist would like to tell by using clues hidden in the artwork.
