Specializing in three-dimensional stainless steel sculpture, Shihpin Hsi was influenced from an early age by his mother’s work as a seamstress, which nurtured his sensitivity toward the deconstruction and reconstruction of form. With a background in architecture and design, he intertwines rational spatial structures with emotional life experiences, developing a sculptural language that balances imagination and tension. His works emphasize interaction with the surrounding environment and play of light and shadow, blending architectural industrial techniques with classical mythology to create fantastical figures such as Pegasus, dragons, griffins, and chimeras—summoning dreamlike beings that transcend reality.
