Ruprecht von Kaufmann (Germany, b. 1974) was born in Munich, Germany, and earned his BFA at the ArtCenter College of Design in Los Angeles. He has taught at Berlin University of the Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig, and currently lives and works in Berlin. Kaufmann is renowned for his emotionally charged and narrative paintings, blending figurative art with a dreamlike atmosphere that often evokes a sense of unease. His work explores various aspects of the human condition, using the visual language of contemporary painting to present critical narratives and parallel realities.
