Lee Kyoung Mi, born in 1977, has stayed in Germany and the United States for many years and now lives and works in Seoul, Korea. In her early years, she was well-known for the street series oil paintings on constructed birch panel in the form of low relief. The main character, Nana, is her beloved cat and also as the embodiment of herself! Most of her creative inspiration comes from travel and life experiences, gathering memories and lacks of emotions since her childhood, along with her wild imagination toward the great universe as well. She is seeking for the true meaning of life in the process of continuously painting and believes that it’s the job of an artist to create a visual form that uniquely embodies their own story and reflect today’s society including herself at all levels.
