**Artist’s Creative Philosophy**
With a delicate realistic style, Lin Chung-Wei depicts various aspects of contemporary society through the observation and portrayal of living organisms. In works like *The Dark Side of the Slaughterhouse*, he explores issues related to genetic modification and the nature of life. In his *Urban Drifting* series, the image of goldfish wandering through the city conveys a sense of alienation and the loneliness of travelers in urban life. Much like films that adapt real-life stories, Lin's works aim to immerse the audience, drawing them into the social realities, struggles, and challenges that we all experience. These stories, close to our lives, are not only relatable to anyone in society but could happen to any of us or those around us.
Lin Chung-Wei uses anthropomorphism to subtly suggest that the goldfish in his paintings are metaphors for solitary drifters in the city. He seeks to expand the interpretative space for his viewers, inviting them to co-create the work in their minds, thus achieving an interactive experience between the artist and the audience.
