- Depiction： In a time when having photographs taken wasn’t common, photographs appeared to be precious and unique. My barely-opened eyes were arrested with each image on each photograph, which aroused great curiosity in me. The scenes as well as the persons on the photographs seemed so intimately familiar yet distantly related. Watching the changes over the time of the places, seasons, how people dressed and even the people’s looks was like experiencing some sort of surreal trips. I, at such a young age, was so confused about the fact that how could these people I obviously knew appeared to be so remotely connected yet some I failed to recognized appeared to be familiar. “The Epitome of the Woodcarving World” was created to symbolize the treasure box of memory opened by the boy by pure chance; those photos were as if enchanted by some sort of spell; they appeared to be intimate yet unknown, which allowed me to learn about the people who came across my life journey at some point all over again as well as myself. These unique characters have documented the ordinary looks of the ups and downs in our daily life through simple yet profound lines. The spaces and times were misplaced in ways, which allows them somehow to exist independently and compliment each other as the epitome of living.
