Born in 1987 in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, YU graduated from Hongik University’s Department of Sculpture in 2011 and completed a master’s degree in Sculpture at the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Fine Arts in 2020.
YU’s work spans embroidered two-dimensional pieces and sculptural installations, employing white fabric and black thread to explore subtle narratives and tactile expressions of materiality.
YU’s recent significant exhibitions include Absolute Chairs (The Museum of Modern Art, Saitama / Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art, 2024) and Mozuku and Eggs (Shiseido Gallery, Tokyo, 2023).
