Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1991, the artist graduated from Waseda University's School of Social Sciences.
Centring on "light as a medium of expression" and “craftsmanship", Ichikawa’s practice explores both the emotional resonance created by light and the scientific technologies that underpin it. Recognised as one of Japan’s prominent neon tube artisans, Ichikawa is also actively involved in contributing to the preservation and perpetuation of the craft of neon sign-making.
Recent exhibitions include HARMONY (JILL D’ART GALLERY, 2024), as well as being awarded the Tamae Hirokawa Award in the Exhibition section at SICF25.
