Hsu Fan Hsuan was born in 1981 in Taoyuan, Taiwan. Influenced by his father from an early age, he studied classical poetry and practiced calligraphy. In his second year of high school, inspired by his art teacher, he decided to pursue a career in painting. He immersed himself in art-related books from the school library to enhance his thinking and lay a strong foundation for his future creations. In 2016, he earned a Ph.D. in Fine Arts from Aichi University of the Arts in Japan. His work does not seek to capture the beauty of imagery but rather aims to transform visual forms and traces into emotional and spiritual experiences. He attempts to convey the essence of expressive meaning within a realistic framework, using the traces of writing to carry the imagination of thought, and within the minimal limits of color, depiction, and form, he strives to evoke the greatest sense of freedom.
