Dai-Roo CHEN

Dai-Roo Chen was born in 1987 in Taipei, Taiwan, and obtained her MFA from the University of Taipei in 2015.

Chen keeps focusing on painting, photography, and projecting as the main methods of making art. She tries to break the cognition of traditional painting concepts, rethinking the relationships between graphics, images, and the viewers. Further more, the essence of viewing.

She displays the paintings and mixed media works by projecting, instead of existing on a flat surface. While the light projects through layers, which have been kept the specific distances, it creates different images between layers and layers, making space a mysterious illusion. With different viewing angles, the image would cover up with each other in slightly different ways. It might trigger a reexamine when people view back to a traditional painting, also representing the theme of realness and virtual images in different points of view.

Seeking a world that we could not understand by the usual senses we have today is the purpose of this series of work. The It is more like a spiritual world with faiths and the lost spirits exist here. Wiping, smearing, and repetitive leaving the brush trace mixed, layer by layer, reflecting the image of an universe that might be very close to us, yet faraway.

陳代如（陳代如　チン．ダイジョ） 1987年台湾台北で生まれ、2015年台北市立大学ビジュアルアート大学院卒業。

主にアルコールマッカーとアクリル透明板で反射、投射、透過の特質を表現されています。 創作中で大事なのは以前の状態にしてみるように何度も拭き繰り返すことです。しかしいくら拭き繰り返しても、その痕跡もはっきり見えます。 その創作活動によって、今の知識や感覚で理解できない世界、いなくなった人や失った物事が存在している世界を追求し、循環、反復、流動の筆触と均質な画面でその私たちに近く、遠いところを反映されています。
