ARTISTS STATEMENT
HUANG, Chun-Yuan was born in 1977 in Taipei.He holds a Master’s degree from the Graduate Institute of Plastic Arts at Taipei National University of the Arts, specializing in printmaking. In 2007, he established TSUBAKI PRINT STUDIO to conduct professional research on silkscreen techniques. He has undertaken projects such as the reprinting of Blue Ground Yellow Tiger Flag from the National Taiwan Museum’s National Treasure Collection and the reprinting of classic artworks by Liao Chi-chun, a renowned Taiwanese artist of the previous generation. In recent years, the main theme of his works has been Nine Fish, which combines the vibrant imagery of peonies with a splash-printmaking technique transformed from traditional Oriental ink-wash motifs. At the core of his work is the spirit of the “Taiwanese style of Pop Art." His works have been exhibited at the Euskalduna Palace Print Fair in Bilbao, Spain, the Tainan Fine Arts Museum, MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow, the Yokohama Private Gallery in Japan, the State Museum of Oriental Art in Russia, and the CLUJ-NAPOCA Museum of Art in Romania, among others. He has also been invited to participate in a series of exhibitions at the Yokohama Museum of Contemporary Art in Japan.
