Also known as "Gu Xi," Huang Chien Liang was born in 1963 in Chiayi, Taiwan. He holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the National Taiwan University of Arts. Huang has dedicated his career to the study and artistic expression of "Tea and the Literati," with numerous publications on the subject. He currently serves as a collection appraisal committee member for the National Palace Museum in Taipei.
Huang’s works, rooted in a profound appreciation for traditional literati culture, employ the medium of modern ink painting. Drawing inspiration from the literati perspective, he incorporates classical philosophy and aesthetics of traditional literature and lifestyle into his art, often expressed through ancient woodblock calligraphy. These elements are paired with sophisticated and restrained visual imagery, evoking a sense of timeless elegance.
